The trailer for the humanized!MLP movie "Equestria Girls" just popped up.
Pinkie's word "nervouscited" certainly describes my feelings towards this. So here's a breakdown of my conflicted feelings following this trailer:
PROS
- It's clearly the same writing and animation team working on this.
- Twilight freaking out over turning human did produce a giggle out of me. Also, just a note, I have no problem with everyone retaining their pony colours even in human form. Multi-colour populations are nothing new for animation (ie. Doug), and at least this way, we won't have to hear the rage-inducing whining of idiot racists. (See: the bitch fests on YouTube over an animation of humanized!Twilight where she was black. See also: The scum of the Earth.)
- Human!Vinyl Scratch. Which means there will likely be more humanized background ponies. I am...surprisingly cool with this. Especially if there's a human Derpy SOMEWHERE in this thing. (We do see human Snips and Snails in the trailer and... damn, Snails be creepy. D: The human!CMC did get an "awww" out of me, to my everlasting shame.)
- Hey, they actually are doing something with Sunset Shimmer! Neat.
- They're using a design for the humanized versions that actually fits with the show's style and isn't...whatever the hell these monstrosities are: 3.bp.blogspot.com/-zIbO0HVmCrg… (Tru fax: when I saw that first image of the promo designs, I thought I'd accidentally clicked on a new ad for "Monster High". Seriously, Hasbro, you are not even TRYING to be subtle about what you're emulating here.)
CONS (well actually, there's only one, but it's a big one)
- The trailer seems to indicate that EVERY cliche associated with the teen girl high school comedy formula, including the bitchy mean girl who hates the protagonist for no reason (I look forward to the inevitable les yay fanart, by the way.), the protagonist putting on a sexy dress and showing everyone that she was beautiful all along, and a dance. Complete with bitchy girl and protagonist competing forprom queen princess of the fall formal. -_-; Fellate me. (I was initially going to include the random guy in the trailer as part of the cliche storm, since I thought he might have been a disposable love interest, but upon noticing the shield image on his shirt, I think he may actually be the human version of Shining Armor.)
But yeah, that's the biggest issue I have from seeing the trailer: I've seen these cliches eighty billion times, and quite frankly, I'm sick to death of them. Granted, this is just a trailer, and the movie itself may play out differently. So, for now, I'll remain optimistic. I'll certainly see it regardless. (I have no idea if any theatres in my city will carry it, so I'll probably wait for DVD.) Honestly, even if the trailer had been atrocious, I'd go anyway just to spite all the people who are screaming that this movie is going to spell doom for the show. Dudes, grow the fuck up.

Same Sex Marriage Passes in the U.S.!!
All my love to my fellow LGBTTQA* persons and supporters in the States! The day is finally here, same sex marriage is legal in all 50 States! It's been a long time coming, but it's happened at last! Hugs and kisses and best of luck to all of you!
A Decade of Marriage Equality
So, I totally forgot to update this earlier, but I wanted to commemorate a recent anniversary!
On September 16, 2004, my province of Manitoba became the 5th province to legalize same-sex marriage, following earlier rulings made by Ontario, British Columbia, Quebec, and the Yukon Territory. Within less than a year, the remaining 6 provinces and 2 territories had made their own rulings, and on July 20, 2005, same-sex marriage was legal throughout Canada.
So here's to 10 years of marriage equality in Manitoba, and congrats to everyone who benefited from it! (i.e. Everyone) And remember kids, no matter if you're gay, straight, bisexual, transge
RIP Robin Williams
Well, I'm fucking depressed now.
For those who haven't heard yet, Robin Williams, one of my favourite actor/comedians and a huge part of my childhood, died today of an apparent suicide. My deepest sympathies go out to his family. Thank you for all the laughs, Robin.

I loved the movie. In fact, I should have hated it, due to all those girly show cliches that would normally make me kill a puppy out of rage... But no. It was really...stupid! And I loved it. All the stuff that was good was good, and maybe it's because I love the show, but I was able to choke down those girly cliche's because the ending was... Holy Jesus, was that an ending! Twilight fights a succubus! ...I'm sure it was more likely a demon, but I'm calling it a succubus. Love it!
